Semtu Lepo corbel brackets are concealed consoles used especially for supporting landing slabs and for creating wall–slab connections. Structurally, the solution transfers shear forces: the bracket is installed into the slab element before casting, and during installation the inner rectangular hollow section is slid into the recess in the wall element.
To make modelling Lepo brackets in Tekla Structures as fast, consistent, and design-guideline compliant as possible, we have released a new Tekla tool for Semtu: Semtu Lepo Hidden Console Connection.
The tool is available on Tekla Warehouse and is intended for both precast and cast-in-situ concrete modelling.
What does the tool do?
The Semtu Lepo Hidden Console Connection plug-in models a Lepo bracket connection in Tekla Structures so that the user gets a complete solution in one go:
Lepo products
Recesses in the concrete wall
Installation plates and rubber layer
The additional reinforcement required by the bracket, generated automatically according to the design guideline logic
Additional reinforcement according to design guidelines
A key factor in the behaviour of Lepo brackets is that the support reaction from the wall element acting on the inner section is transferred into the slab’s concrete structure.
Because the load transfer and edge effects of the slab change depending on the bracket positioning, the Lepo guideline presents additional reinforcement in several different cases. According to the guideline, the reinforcement is determined based on:
- edge distance (e)
- centre-to-centre spacing between brackets
The Semtu Lepo Hidden Console Connection plug-in takes this into account in modelling: reinforcement is not “one standard layout”, but the additional reinforcement created by the tool varies automatically based on the selected bracket layout and distances.
Warnings and validation logic
The user interface also provides the designer with guideline-related notes and warnings, for example regarding slab thickness, concrete strength, and edge distances.

The tool has been released and will be further developed as needed based on user feedback.
